Equivalenze by Federico Grandicelli, curated by 3/3, Chiara Capodici and Fiorenza Pinna, is the first exhibition in the Honos spaces to present an artist working primarily with photography. Here the photographic medium moves within and beyond its limits, becoming a sculpture and a totem, a study and a biunique correspondence, the visual traces of an experimental act in which the transparency of photography, the presumed direct relationship between reality and representation is simultaneously demonstrated and negated, traversed and unfolded.
Between literal and metaphorical meanings, in a constant tension between formalism and action, the work eludes the stability of abstraction to force us back into the midst of the material unfolding of the process
Born in Rome, Italy in 1982. Scientific background in Physics, studied photography in SRF in Rome (2008-2009) and at the International Center of Photography of NYC (2010-2011).
Came to NYC in april 2009 and started immediatly to assist Joel Meyerowitz. And became a professional color darkroom printer. After graduating at the ICP assisted Adam Fuss. Both are strong influences in his work, but he is combining his abstract and landscapes trying to deal with the dichotomy “what we feel, what we perceive”.
He always prints all his work in the Color Darkroom. He lives in and works between Rome, New York and Oslo.
