We last spoke with Théo Lefebvre it was January 2015, after he launched his first EP “WEIRD TALES” and we asked him: “if you had 3 wishes, what would they be?”
He said: “3) to find a label for my second EP, and to live of my music in the future, to do what I love the most”
ok, maybe that’s more than one wish, but part one of the wish came true, he did find a label: “Tree Machine Records” founded in Bloomington, IN and run collaboratively from Johannesburg, South Africa by Zack Anselm and Eazy Makgobatlou.
You Are Number Six is a musician whose songs carry infinite joy.
‘VHS Dreams’ is a dreamscape of electronics with Summer vibes and good times. The album cover speaks for itself, and we’re reminded of the more electronic side of New Order mixed with the vocal style of a French Robert Smith on sunny days and cool July nights. Lush 80’s synth takes you back in time and returns a feeling of easy living, lemonade, and poolside weather. Get acquainted with the kookie electronics and synth rhythms, and break away from the monotony of routine. Don’t be just another number in the system. Dream of the days before data mining and machine learning when a VHS was the most advanced mass media.
Théo Lefebvre was born on 06/06 and fan of the British series “The Prisoner” from which he takes his stage name, Theo began his solo project “You Are Number Six” in October 2013.
Quickly spotted on Soundcloud, the first EP was released in the US on … 06/06, by indie label YOUNG CUBS in Austin-TX.
“Weird Tales” was warmly welcomed by many international blogs for its 80’s influences and immediate melodies. You Are Number Six composes his music using real instruments (guitar, bass, keyboard) and drum machines; Thèo produces his own mix and mastering, and also works on artworks/interactive website.
